In last month’s magazine you will have seen that HYPER & FRIENDS are putting on a concert on Saturday 10th July at 7pm in the church. Those of you who were at last year’s concert will recall what a feast of talent there was!! Not just from our young people, who were brilliant, but from a good number of other members of the church family who graciously gave of their time and talent to support HYPER and help the charity of their choice.

This year the proceeds from the concert will be going to augment the fund raising efforts of ex-HYPER member Jamie Dunsmore who this summer is cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Diamond Riding Centre for people with disabilities. Both beneficiaries of the bike-ride and the concert’s proceeds greatly helped and supported Jamie’s sister, Annalise, up to her sad death in October 2009 aged just 15.

Please do support HYPER & FRIENDS by coming to the concert if you can, tickets are available from any HYPER member or leader at £5 adult & £3 child.

We are greatly blessed by having such a talented and enthusiastic group of young people at Emmanuel and we are extremely grateful to their leaders, (who are themselves all very busy people), for the time and energy they devote to leading HYPER. Our grateful thanks go to (in alphabetical order!!) David Best, Gill Chamberlain, Penny Davies, Karen Florence & Sara Stocker.

If you haven’t already done so, mark your diaries now for 10th July and buy your tickets soon to avoid disappointment.

PS: If you see me ‘disappear’ swiftly after the service on 11th July, it is because I am honouring a longstanding promise to visit a HYPER meeting.

The Mission Garden Party on Saturday 17th July in the manse garden will continue this support and we hope to have a visitor from ‘Open Doors’ with us on that occasion

SONGS OF PRAISE SERVICE –                                          SUNDAY 22ND AUGUST 2010 6:30PM

It is some time since we had a Songs of Praise service, so I am planning one for the above date in August.

As before, members and friends are invited to choose a hymn for the congregation to sing and say a few words as to why that particular hymn is a favourite of theirs or why it means something special. This is not ‘compulsory’ so if you just want to choose a hymn and would rather not talk, please feel free to do that.

Please let me know your hymn choices as soon as possible but not later than 15th August.
