24th February to 8th March
During the two weeks of Fairtrade Fortnight 2020, individuals, groups and companies come together to celebrate the people in developing countries who grow our food, but who are often underpaid and exploited.
This year, the focus of Fairtrade Fortnight will be on women in the cocoa and coffee industries across the world, with the #SHEDESERVES strapline, as well as campaigning for living incomes (entering year two of a three year campaign). The campaign will highlight how many cocoa farmers, particularly women, are underpaid and exploited, and the scandal of unfair trade.
Choosing to buy fair trade, ethical food and drink is everyday activism, and is the simplest way to change the world. Through fair trade, farmers and growers can earn enough to feed their families, send their children to school, and provide a future for their local community.
This Fairtrade Fortnight you are invited to join Traidcraft on a journey stretching across forty years of UK fair trade, fighting for them and fighting with them. Why not embark upon your own fair trade journey by choosing to buy fair trade goods.
Do try to support Fairtrade. Some of these women earn around than 75p a day that’s less than the price of a bar of chocolate!
Look out for details of our Big Brew coffee morning in support of the charity Traidcraft Exchange, later in the year.
