Desert Island Discs with Fish and Chip Supper!

Desert Island Discs with Fish and Chip Supper!

As COVID precautions/lockdown precluded us giving David the traditional welcome for a new minister when he arrived, we’re putting on an event aiming to have a fun evening whilst getting to know him a little better.

The format is Desert Island Discs.  David has chosen his eight records, a favourite book and a luxury, and Bryn aka ‘Roy Plumley Thomas’ is poised to conduct the interview and spin the discs, Spotify style.

To help us all join in with the castaway island feel, we are planning to serve a fish and chip supper, which will be dropped off by a passing oceanic trawler.

The evening is on the Saturday of our Harvest Festival Weekend, which with ongoing precautions, is having a different format this year to that which Emmanuel has previously enjoyed, so…

Date: Saturday 25th September 2021

Time: 6:30pm

Plaice: Richmond Hall, Emmanuel URC

(which for one evening only will be surrounded by the sea)

Jim Lord is organising the galley arrangements including tickets costing £10 for the fish and chips, with any excess going to a harvest charity. Please speak to Jim or contact him on 07703 470940 or email to order your ticket and be prepared to pay C.o.D. (Cash on delivery!) of ticket. The deadline for purchase of tickets is 18th September, after which the order needs to be placed with the trawler!

A plate will be available for anyone who wishes to make a donation to our Harvest Weekend to Commitment for Life Appeal. So come and enjoy an evening, starting ‘by the sleepy lagoon’.

I wonder what music David has chosen? Perhaps some sole music!?

Or something with an island feel?

Pictured is a deserted island and clue to one of David’s eight discs.

Do you know the island? Can you guess the musical piece?
