Croydon’s rogues and eccentrics

At our regular meeting in March, we were entertained by Mr Wally Ross-Gower who gave us an illuminating talk on some of the eccentric and, occasionally, villainous characters who had associations with the borough of Croydon.

Defying superstition, the evening of Friday 13th March was the time of our annual visit from the South London Fellowship Band. It was the usual joyous occasion with excellent singing and musicianship enjoyed by all who attended It was also a great pleasure to see our long time friend, Major George Whittingham, in the audience. George started these concerts some 20 years ago and conducted them every year at Emmanuel until his recent retirement.
