As you will have seen from recent church magazine articles Marion and I are planning to lead a party to see the famous Passion Play in Oberammergau in the summer of 2020. This is organised by McCabe’s Pilgrimages with whom we have travelled many times in the past. The dates of our visit are 31st July—7th August 2020. The play has been performed every 10 years by the people of this small German town since 1634 in gratitude for their deliverance from the plague which devastated Europe at the time.
Our trip will include 5 days in the Austrian Tyrol prior to the climax of our journey – the Passion Play. We will spend the final two nights in Oberammergau itself. We shall be visiting among other places, the beautiful city of Salzburg made famous by its associations with Mozart and “The Sound of Music.” We shall also be visiting Berchtesgaden set in one of the most scenic parts of the Bavarian Alps where Hitler had his mountain retreat – the Berghof (Eagle’s nest). The brochures and booking forms giving full details are now available from Marion or myself. Unfortunately this trip is now full.
If you have any questions please do speak to Marion or myself.
Estimated Passion Play 2020 Timeline:
